A direct-to-consumer retail brand

Cut checkout abandonment by rebuilding a third-party checkout embed as a first-party flow.

Safari checkout failures

↓ from ~12%

Challenge

Checkout ran through an embedded third-party iframe that added 1.8s to page load and broke on Safari's intelligent tracking prevention roughly 12% of the time.

Approach

Replaced the iframe with a first-party checkout built directly against the payment provider's server-side API, with client-side validation via React Hook Form and Zod.

Outcome

Checkout became a first-party page with no cross-origin dependency, load time dropped, and the Safari-specific failure mode disappeared entirely.
